Login Library Account
The login is available from the library homepage in the top right corner. Your library account is automatically set up for you once you complete your registration. Your student number is your username. You need to use the “Forgotten your password link” to set up your password.
You can enter My portal to manage your activities in library catalogue by clicking the at top left corner.
Searching the Catalogue
A simple Word search is the most effective way to start your search of the catalogue. You can also search by Author or Subject. Always keep your search simple.
Select search type from the drop-down menu on the left.
You can also use the drop down menu to do a list search, which is searching by your subject code. For example, type in BUS to see the codes for your business subject and this will give you the material that the library has which corresponds to your reading list.
Locating a Book
When you are looking for a physical book on the shelf you will use the call number to locate the book. An example is provided below. The first part is the Prefix, followed by the classification number, and lastly item number
If the Prefix is collection name, please IGNORE it when locating the item.
If the catalogue lists the books as being ONLINE - the book is an electronic book (eBook). Simply click the link to access the book. However, you will need your student email and Office 365 password to access the electronic full textbooks if you are off campus.
Reserve
You can reserve the item that is currently on loan.
Renew
Renewal can be done by accessing “Loan” menu on My Portal. Click the “Current loan” menu, select the renewal item and click .
Three (3) renewals are allowed if the item is not reserved by other users or the item is too soon to be renewed.
